Paul Dvirnak, MD
Dr. Dvirnak is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Dvirnak specializes in caring for the injured athlete. Following graduation from Harvard Medical School and his orthopedic residency at the University of New Mexico, Dr. Dvirnak completed a highly competitive one-year fellowship in knee and shoulder sports medicine at the Steadman- Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado.
Dr. Dvirnak was an associate team physician for the Denver Broncos training camp in Greeley, Colorado. He takes care of many elite athletes in Durango and the Four Corners area, provides care for team and individual athletes, and cares for numerous kayakers, skiers, cyclists, climbers and runners in the region.
Dr. Dvirnak is a skilled kayaker, mountain biker, alpine and backcountry skier. Dr. Dvirnak has also climbed widely in Alaska, Canada, throughout the U.S. and in the Peruvian Andes, including ascents on Denali, Mt. Hunter, Moose's Tooth, North Face of Mt. Robson and Big Wall on Colorado's Diamond on Long's Peak.
Field Blevins, MD
Dr. Blevins is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon. Dr Blevins maintains a special interest and expertise in sports medicine, knee and shoulder injuries, instability and arthritis. He graduated from U.C.L.A. Medical School and completed the Harvard Orthopedic Residency Program. He received sports medicine fellowship training at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado, and the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, where he assisted in care of the New York Mets and the New York Giants.
Prior to moving to Durango, Dr. Blevins was an associate professor of orthopedics at the University of New Mexico and a team physician for the U.N.M Lobos for six years. Dr. Blevins currently cares for team and individual athletes in the Four Corners area and is on the Fort Lewis College Cycling Board of Doctors co-head team physician for Fort Lewis Skyhawks athletes, and an orthopedic consultant at the USA Cycling events.
Dr. Blevins has published more than 25 scientific articles, chapter and reviews on knee and shoulder injuries and sports medicine topics. He enjoys cycling, skiing, running and triathlons, in addition to being a former P.R.C.A. rodeo contestant. He and his wife, Priscilla, have completed the Vail Ultra 100-Mile Mountain Bike Race twice on their tandem mountain bike.
Jennifer Forrest, MD
Dr. Forrest opened her orthopedic practice in 2003, after relocating to Durango from southern California. She is a general orthopedic surgeon in addition to managing pediatric, hand, foot and ankle, sports, arthritis and trama orthopedics.
After earning her Bachelor of Science from Central Michigan, where she was in the top 5 percent of her graduating class, she completed her Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the University of California at Irvine in June 2003.
Dr. Forrest enjoys many outdoor activities, including mountain biking, kayaking and snowboarding in addition to yoga classes.
Brinceton M, Phipps, MD

Dr Phipps was raised in Austin , Texas where he was in sports and outdoor activities. Through those activities he has had the opportunity to be an orthopedic patient on multiple occasions. He met his wife in Texas and has been happily married for over ten years. They have two children whose activity level has them on course to be receiving orthopedic care real soon.
Dr. Phipps completed his undergraduate training at the University of Texas - Huston, and attended the University of California - Irvine for his Orthopedic Residency training.
Through his career and dedication to education, Dr. Phipps has been recognized for his outstanding patient care and technical abilities including: Department of VA outstanding Customer Service Award and Best Surgical Intern, UC Irvine Golden Scalpel Award and Best Surgical Intern. It is these qualities that prompted the UC Irvine to request his services in helping shape the future of Orthopedics by assisting in the training of their residents for which he won the Affiliated Faculty Teaching Award in 2007.
